Reporting to: Manager, Quality Lead & Senior Project Manager

Hourly wage: $60.00 - 65.00 per hour

Job Purpose

The Field QC Inspector is responsible for supporting the implementation and execution of quality control activities for construction and maintenance scopes at the LNGC Site. This role ensures compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements through inspection, verification, and documentation of work activities.

This position provides critical support in maintaining continuous QC coverage during regular maintenance and turnaround activities. The Field QC Inspector is responsible for conducting weld inspections, supporting the flange management process, managing material receiving activities, and ensuring compliance with turnover documentation requirements.

Responsibilities

General Responsibilities 

  • Display a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture;
  • Develop a working knowledge of project scope, specifications, codes, and inspection requirements;
  • Support the QA/QC Lead in the implementation of Inspection Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Field Packages;
  • Maintain effective communication with supervision, trades, and client representatives on quality-related matters;
  • Maintain continuous QC coverage in coordination with the QA/QC Lead during maintenance and turnaround activities;

Welding Inspection & Compliance

  • Perform visual weld inspections in accordance with CSA W178.2 Level II certification requirements;
  • Verify that weld materials, preparation, fit-up, and completed welds meet applicable codes and project specifications;
  • Ensure all required inspection hold points are met prior to continuation of work activities;
  • Support welder qualification tracking and continuity requirements where applicable;
  • Coordinate with NDE personnel, request required NDE inspections and verify inspection readiness;

Flange Management (FCM)

  • Support with the preparation, requesting, printing, and management of Flange Control Management (FCM) packages;
  • Provide QC oversight during bolt-up activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and PCC-1 requirements;
  • Verify proper installation, tagging (green/red), and documentation of flange assemblies;
  • Track FCM packages from initiation to completion to ensure all documentation is accurate and complete;
  • Upload completed bolt-up documentation to LNGC’s system (IMS);

Material Receiving & Management

  • Support material procurement activities by assisting with material take-offs, identifying shortages, and coordinating with the QA/QC Lead and procurement team for ordering requirements;
  • Perform inspection and verification of incoming materials to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and purchase requirements;
  • Verify material identification, traceability, heat numbers, and supporting documentation (MTRs, certificates of compliance);
  • Ensure materials are free from damage, contamination, or defects prior to acceptance and use;
  • Verify proper storage, handling, and preservation of materials in accordance with project and manufacturer requirements;
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials through the Over, Short and Damaged (OS&D) or Non-Conformance Report (NCR) processes;
  • Maintain accurate records of material inspections and support documentation for turnover packages;

Inspection, Documentation & Turnover

  • Complete and review Inspection Test Records (ITRs) to ensure accuracy and completeness;
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date quality documentation to support system turnover;
  • Identify, initiate, and document Requests for Information (RFIs) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and support corrective actions and resolution;

Continuous Improvement

  • Provide feedback to the QA/QC Lead on recurring issues, quality trends, and opportunities for improvement;
  • Support initiatives aimed at reducing rework, improving efficiency, and strengthening quality processes;
  • Support the Quality Surveillance program to record key field observations and inspection findings;

Qualifications

  • Certification as a CSA W178.2 Level II Welding Inspector (required).
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards (CSA, ASME, and project specifications).
  • Experience in construction and/or maintenance quality inspection (mechanical, piping, and structural).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office and document control systems (e.g., Bluebeam, Word, Excel).

Working Conditions

 

The incumbent is required to work on a construction site with moderate noise, extreme temperatures and numerous hazards including equipment.

 

The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs; be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold); carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines. 

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time.
