Position: Permanent / Full-Time

Positions Available: Night Shift - 1

Job Purpose

Welding Supervisors are responsible for ensuring quality throughout welding workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Checks welding work, visually and dimensionally, with assembly drawing to ensure it is correct prior to sending out.
  • Coordinates crew to meet schedule demands with the guidance of the shop foreman and general foreman.
  • Inspects to ensure that all tack welds follow welding symbols.
  • Coordinates with Shop QC Coordinator to solve any problems with drawings.
  • Attends daily toolbox meetings.
  • Completes tasks with minimal NCR’s.
  • Properly and consistently follow and document established procedures.
  • Ensures that the crew and themselves wear the appropriate personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Reports personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtains medical attention as required.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a journeyperson welder.
  • 10+ years of on the job experience
  • Basic and advanced rigging course an asset
  • FLHA Training an asset
  • Overhead Crane Operator Course preferred
  • WHMIS

Working Conditions

The incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise.

Physical Requirements

The incumbent is required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.
