    Job Purpose 

    The Maintenance crew is responsible for maintaining all equipment and property on site. Positions include Millwrights, Electricians, Heavy Equipment Technicians, Building Maintenance Operators, etc.

    Responsibilities

    • Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture;
    • Read, understand and follow all safe work practices and procedures for machinery and equipment;
    • Have and use the proper tools to meet the specific job requirements;
    • Perform minor and major repairs of all buildings and equipment;
    • Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures and maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures;
    • Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures;
    • Perform preventive maintenance procedures on building mechanical equipment on a scheduled basis; inspect belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, grease bearings, seals, etc.; repair or replace broken parts;
    • Calibrate and repair pneumatic systems;
    • Repair electrical equipment;
    • Install electrical wiring and equipment; new electrical services, wiring during remodeling projects; replaces and repairs wiring as needed;
    • Report work performed in the Maintenance PM Program;
    • Contact Corporate Maintenance Manager to coordinate all subcontractors and vendors;
    • May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed;
    • May operate a computer which controls and monitors mechanical equipment and utility systems;
    • Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required;
    • Attend weekly toolbox meetings;
    • Follow work schedules;
    • Complete tasks with minimal NCR’s;
    • Report personal injuries, no matter how minor, and obtain medical attention as required;
    • Consistently follow and encourage shop rules;
    • Willing to work overtime when needed.

    Qualifications

    • Must be a registered apprentice, an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a journeyperson (Millwright, Heavy Equipment Technician, Electrician, etc.);
    • Knowledge/Experience with Pneumatic, Electrical and Hydraulic systems;
    • Knowledge/Experience with Peddinghaus equipment ie: CNC Drill Lines/Saw, CNC Angle /Sheer Line; Demag Overhead cranes systems; Plasma Punches; Burning Tables; Sandblasting Equipment an asset;
    • Fall Protection training;
    • Lock out/Tag out training;
    • Aerial Work Platform training required;
    • FLHA Training required;
    • Root cause analysis training an asset;
    • Basic and/or Advanced Rigging an asset;
    • Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset;
    • WHMIS.

    Working Conditions

    The incumbent is required to work in the fabrication shop with moderate noise and numerous hazardous fumes.

     

    Physical Requirements

    The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, limited lifting, and sitting.
